The Legacy Journal Project: Sharing Your Story

Honor Hospice legacy journaling

The Legacy Journal allows patients to share their lives with those that love them. The team of Honor Hospice staff and volunteers work with patients to collect a lifetime of memories, advice, and insights that can be shared with family to treasure for years to come. Patients can share their stories and leave behind a written record of their life that will be cherished by their loved ones. After it is complete, Honor Hospice will have the keepsake bound.

A Lasting Impression: Casted Hand Molding

Hand cast sculptures can be a meaningful and sentimental legacy project for hospice patients. Creating a cast of their hand allows patients to leave a lasting physical reminder of their presence and their unique identity for their loved ones. It can also serve as a therapeutic activity, giving patients a sense of purpose and accomplishment during their final days.

The Cozy Connection: Blanket Making

Blanket Fabrics Our team of volunteers works with patients to assist in creating blankets that can be given to their loved ones as a cherished reminder of their time together. The process of choosing the colors, patterns, and materials can be a therapeutic activity, giving patients a sense of purpose and accomplishment during their final days while allowing them to continuously wrap their loved ones in their love for years to come.

Express Yourself Art Sessions

Honor Hospice’s Nurturing Artist leads artistic expression sessions that can help patients and families connect with their feelings, communicate their thoughts, and leave a lasting memory for their loved ones. Through art, patients can create something that reflects their unique identity and experience, leaving behind a tangible legacy for their family to cherish. Art sessions can also provide a meaningful way for families to connect and spend time with their loved one and leave wonderful reminders of a loved one’s creative expression.

Massage Therapy

Honor Hospice Massage Therapy Session

For Patients: As patients approach the end of their life, they may experience physical discomfort, emotional distress, and other challenges. The healing touch of a hospice massage therapist can bring reduce anxiety, alleviate pain, promote relaxation, and promote overall comfort and well-being. Massage can also provide a sense of emotional support and connection, which can be especially meaningful during end-of-life care.

For Caregivers: Caring for a loved one who is receiving hospice care can be emotionally and physically demanding for caregivers. Massage therapy can be a valuable tool to help alleviate the stress and strain that caregivers may experience. Massage therapy can help reduce muscle tension, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being. By taking care of their own physical and emotional needs, caregivers can be better equipped to provide compassionate care to their loved one. Massage therapy can provide a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving and a chance for caregivers to focus on their own health and well-being.

We Honor Veterans: Veteran Recognition Ceremony

At Honor Hospice, we are proud to be a partner of the We Honor Veterans program, which recognizes and honors the sacrifices and service of our nation’s veterans. As part of this program, we offer a Veteran Recognition Ceremony to our hospice patients who have served in the armed forces.

The Veteran Recognition Ceremony is a special way for our patients to be acknowledged and thanked for their service, and to receive a heartfelt tribute from the community. The ceremony includes the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and a personalized award. It also includes a heartfelt recognition of the veteran’s service and sacrifice, with the presence of fellow veterans, community members, and members of Honor Hospice.

The Veteran Recognition Ceremony is a powerful and meaningful way for our hospice patients to be honored and recognized for their service, and for us to express our gratitude for their sacrifice. It is our way of expressing our deep appreciation for our nation’s veterans.
