Honor Hospice Special Patient Care Programs
Our Specialty Programs
At Honor Hospice, our philosophy has always been to go above and beyond for our patients and their families. Since our founding, we have been dedicated to finding new ways to improve the hospice experience by providing more personalized attention and compassionate care. Hospice care is about living, so we work to make meaningful moments with loved ones and our special patient care programs are tailored to do just that.
Legacy Projects
At Honor Hospice, we believe that every patient deserves to leave a lasting legacy. That’s why we offer a unique approach to making memories that are tailored to each patient’s abilities and interests. Our Legacy Activities program is designed to help patients create meaningful projects that can be passed down from generation to generation.
The Legacy Journal Project: Sharing Your Story
The Legacy Journal allows patients to share their lives with those that love them. The team of Honor Hospice staff and volunteers work with patients to collect a lifetime of memories, advice, and insights that can be shared with family to treasure for years to come. Patients can share their stories and leave behind a written record of their life that will be cherished by their loved ones.
A Lasting Impression: Casted Hand Molding
Hand cast sculptures can be a meaningful and sentimental legacy project for hospice patients. Creating a cast of their hand allows patients to leave a lasting physical reminder of their presence and their unique identity for their loved ones. It can also serve as a therapeutic activity, giving patients a sense of purpose and accomplishment during their final days.
The Cozy Connection: Blanket Making
Our team of volunteers works with patients to assist in creating blankets that can be given to their loved ones as a cherished reminder of their time together. The process of choosing the colors, patterns, and materials can be a therapeutic activity, giving patients a sense of purpose and accomplishment during their final days while allowing them to continuously wrap their loved ones in their love for years to come.
Express Yourself Art Sessions
Honor Hospice’s Nurturing Artist leads artistic expression sessions that can help patients and families connect with their feelings, communicate their thoughts, and leave a lasting memory for their loved ones. Through art, patients can create something that reflects their unique identity and experience, leaving behind a tangible legacy for their family to cherish. Art sessions can also provide a meaningful way for families to connect and spend time with their loved one and leave wonderful reminders of a loved one’s creative expression.

Massage Therapy
For Patients: As patients approach the end of their life, they may experience physical discomfort, emotional distress, and other challenges. The healing touch of a hospice massage therapist can bring reduced anxiety, alleviate pain, promote relaxation, and promote overall comfort and well-being.. Massage can also provide a sense of emotional support and connection, which can be especially meaningful during end-of-life care.
For Caregivers: Caring for a loved one who is receiving hospice care can be emotionally and physically demanding for caregivers. Massage therapy can be a valuable tool to help alleviate the stress and strain that caregivers may experience. Massage therapy can help reduce muscle tension, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote a sense of relaxation and well-being. By taking care of their own physical and emotional needs, caregivers can be better equipped to provide compassionate care to their loved one. Massage therapy can provide a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving and a chance for caregivers to focus on their own health and well-being.
We Honor Veterans: Veteran Recognition Ceremony
At Honor Hospice, we are proud to be a partner of the We Honor Veterans program, which recognizes and honors the sacrifices and service of our nation’s veterans. As part of this program, we offer a Veteran Recognition Ceremony to our hospice patients who have served in the armed forces.
The Veteran Recognition Ceremony is a special way for our patients to be acknowledged and thanked for their service, and to receive a heartfelt tribute from the community. The ceremony includes the presentation of a certificate of appreciation and a personalized award. It also includes a heartfelt recognition of the veteran’s service and sacrifice, with the presence of fellow veterans, community members, and members of Honor Hospice.
The Veteran Recognition Ceremony is a powerful and meaningful way for our hospice patients to be honored and recognized for their service, and for us to express our gratitude for their sacrifice. It is our way of expressing our deep appreciation for our nation’s veterans.

Learn About LaRue's Perfect Day
Living with cancer can be a daunting challenge, but if you had the pleasure of meeting Larue Morgan, her diagnosis would not be the first thing you would notice. Rather, her infectious enthusiasm for life would be the first thing to catch your attention. Larue always had a smile on her face, and it was effortless for her to put a smile on yours, whether it was a quick joke, or her contagious giggle after indulging in her favorite treat, the Klondike bar.
During her first encounter with our social worker, Melissa, Larue shared her plans of attending an upcoming concert by her favorite country artist, Kenny Chesney, at Ford Field. Melissa knew that this was a dream that had to come true. She immediately sprang into action and contacted the representatives at Ford Field. Through Melissa’s dedication to Larue’s dream day, she was able to secure handicap accessible parking and seating, a meet and greet with her favorite artist, and some autographed memorabilia from the night out. More than any of this however, this evening out turned into a cherished memory for Larue, her husband Jim, and their family.
At Honor Hospice, we believe that every moment is precious, and we are dedicated to making every moment count for our patients. Whether it’s attending a concert, taking a scenic drive, or simply sharing a cup of tea and a conversation, we strive to create meaningful experiences that bring comfort, joy, and peace to those in our care.
We understand that hospice care can be a challenging journey, but we are here to make it as positive and uplifting as possible. Our focus on creating new memories is at the heart of our mission, and we strive to provide our patients and their families with meaningful experiences that bring comfort, joy, and peace. We believe that these moments of happiness and connection are what truly matter in life, and we are honored to be a part of our patients’ journeys.
